So this morning, I was sorting out my shoe materials to repair some spoilt shoes o (I learnt shoe-making during my service year), when I heard my phone ringing.
So I rushed to pick the call from an unknown number. He greeted me familiarly and starting blabbing
Me was confused o, cos I couldn't recognise the voice
So I asked who I was speaking with.
Immediately, he said we met at Abuja and continued talking o. Basically, he was saying he had a business plan and was looking for an honest person to handle it.
Honestly, I was confused Couldn't remember where or how we met or why he brought his 'business proposal' to me but he mentioned familiar details to me
I was actually thinking I had filled a form in my fiancé's church that contained all my details when I visited him in Abuja, (my caller was using terms like, "God bless you sister, it is well with you" and I don't live in Abuja) or that he connected me somehow with this guy... But my fiancé would have told me if that was the case
Anyways, he asked me to note down some details of the business transaction.
He said his company at Port Harcourt needed about 75 'Drilling Oil Cork', WHW10A for Underground Pipeline
He said he would give me a contact that works in 'By Water Engineering Company' that they supply the drilling oil cork.
My own role: I would buy the oil corks from the company at Abuja and send it to them in Port Harcourt
I would buy the corks at 250k per one, and sell to them at 350k, thereby making a profit of 100k on each one
I was to call the contact named Pastor David Ogah on 08171847769. He said I should get back to him immediately I confirm that they have the product in stock.
Straightaway, I knew he was a scammer
Oga, you know the contact that sells what you want, why don't you contact him yourself You know you can make a direct profit of 75*100k, why then involving a total stranger? Who in his proper senses would do that?
All these scammers with their lack of sense sef
What I did? I ran a quick search on my beloved True Caller App (oh sweet app, be exposing scammers since 1874 )
I discovered that I had once missed a call from an unknown number named SCAMMER STEVE but I didn't really bother, since I never called back.
I was still trying to search for the company or product on Nairaland, when the man called again and my truecaller app (as though asleep before) suddenly awoke and registered boldly on my screen SCAMMER STEVE calling... Chai! I wish I could see him face to face and render a thunderous slap on his face
I just played along a little to waste his airtime small
SCAMMER STEVE: Have you called the man to confirm?
Anugod: Ehn?
SCAMMER STEVE: I said have you confirmed from the number I gave you?
Anugod: Ehrrm, yea.
SCAMMER STEVE: You have? And you didn't call me back?
Anugod: Ohhh, sorrrrrry...
SCAMMER STEVE: *cuts call*
(Probably to confirm from SCAMMER David Ogah if I made the call).
SCAMMER STEVE: *calls back* You said you have called to confirm?...
Anugod: Yea... Don't you believe me?
SCAMMER STEVE: You're a liar.
Anugod: You're a FOOL!
*Cuts call*
Just for the records, please don't fall victim of any SCAMMER. I guess he must have gotten my contact and details from an online job application. Please peeps, always be smart and never quick to believe anyone.
