Job Title: Account Officer

Reports To: Group Head – Account

Summary Of Position: The incumbent is responsible to Group Head, Accounts. A big focus of the role will be to ensure that the business is compliant with financial government requirements. The Accountant prepares, develops and analyses key financial information to ensure that Banksome management makes well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth and profitability.

A. Specific Objectives and Responsibilities


 Assist in preparing recurrent and capital expenditure for each expenditure type
 Maintain appropriate records of actual recurrent expenditure and prepare periodic analysis of actual against planned expenditure for each expenditure type.
 Liaise with HR for monthly payroll preparation and reconciliation
 Oversee bookkeeping and reconciliation of accounts
 Assist in preparing Monthly Income Statement
 Prepare Cash flow Statement
 Liaise with the banks, collect statements and reconcile bank accounts
 Ensure preparation and remittance of taxes such as VAT, PAYE, Pension
 Prepare and monitor billings on projects
 Follow-up adequately on outstanding receivables and report progress as necessary
 Establish work priorities and frequently revise in the appropriate order
 Liaise with third-party contractors/vendors accordingly as the business demands
 Prepare liquidity statements and profitability index of all team activities
 Prepare management report of all team activities
 Prepare weekly Receivable and Payable schedule
 Assist in coordinating audited financial statement of each entity
 Facilitates at least one internal training per year
 Manage on correspondences and backup mails using MS outlook

Public Relations
 Portray positive image by ensuring that the organization’s values are show-cased in the discharge of assigned duties
 Exercise initiative, judgment and tact at ensuring client enquiries, concerns and issues related to services rendered are resolved adequately
 Represent the executive/company at business or social functions as may be required

B. Key Performance Indicators


 Completeness, accuracy, timeliness of reports, correspondence, including analysis of plan/actual variances
 Average number of errors; the income statement, liquidity and statement of financial position Smooth flow of communication, as related to assigned responsibilities
 Possess good knowledge of company’s projects and maintain project ledger
 Turnaround time to disbursement
 Budget planning
 Prompt availability of profitability index and financial statement of all entity when requested
 Liaise with third-party contractors/vendors accordingly as the business demands
 Prompt remittance of statutory deduction.
 Avoidance of penalties to compliance with statutory laws
 Reduced legal charges

The incumbent’s contact within the organisation generally includes the executives and other support staff. Contacts outside the organisation include clients, vendors/contractors or other agents as related to the business.

C. Skills


The incumbent’s clerical skills must include accurate typing skills (use of spreadsheet), editing and proofreading ability; a good command of English language, both oral and written. The incumbent must be familiar with the organisation’s procedures and formats for letters, memoranda etc, and must be able to conduct self in all situations as a representative of the organisation.
The incumbent must possess good accounting and bookkeeping skills or be quick to acquire such skills on the job. He/She must be thorough and accurate in tracking the various accounts. Peachtree basic knowledge is essential.

As employees of an organisation dedicated to rendering outstanding client service, all personnel of the organisation are required to provide efficient and accurate service, both to our clients and to the organisation. Much of the work required of Banksome Global Resources is subject to strict deadlines and frequently must be accomplished within a short span of time.

When it is necessary to complete assignments on an overtime basis, it is required therefore, that employee is available for overtime work, even on short notice.

Note that the responsibilities of the executives and the needs of our staff may change as the exigencies of the job demands. Such changes may consist of additions, reductions in, or substitutions of duties and responsibilities
