Location: Lagos

 About The Job -HEAD, PRESS & MEDIA
The Head of Press & Media is responsible for implementation of external media affairs for all print, digital and broadcast media. Also overseeing communications to the media, preparing articles, press kits, press releases, and other content initiatives. Must also cultivate and manage relationships with media representatives.


The Head of  Press & Media’s responsibilities are to;


  • Ensure information communication on behalf of all the  representations/clients in accurate and readable manner for varying formats such as press releases, communiques, magazines, newsletters, websites and letters, and targeted contents at a vast range of audiences.
  • Liaise with the press to communicate messages from the organisation.
  • Build strong working relationships with members of the press and digital media.
  • Act as a media spokesperson on behalf of the company and address all client questions and complaints.
  • Provide advice to PR consultants and events team of staff on written communications with the press.
  • Proof-read and write statements for PR consultants to approve per client before relaying to external stakeholders, press and the media.
  • Manage media campaigns of all the company's clients per varying goals and planned outcomes.
  • Ensure the integration of digital and social media alongside any press and media campaigns.
  • To oversee all press releases, media briefings and prompt aftermath stories.
  • To respond to media enquiries, sourcing relevant information and voices for comment, briefing colleagues as appropriate
  • To organise media contacts, to ensure all requests are recorded, to monitor and save cuttings, and to undertake other press and policy administration as required.
  • Work on all third party or external stakeholder materials ensuring the message and tone of written communications is consistent and fits with the overall brand.
  • Liaise with the press during times of crisis management or unexpected negative Public Relation incidents.



Requirements

  • Be skilled in writing clear, concise and grammatically correct media content
  • Have strong understanding of the press and media networks nationwide.
  • Must be highly organised and be able to meet strict and erratic deadlines.
  • Have keen interest in the news media and press relations.
  • Have relevant work experience, internships or industrial placements in press and media field.
  • A good undergraduate degree in any discipline is acceptable for entry into this profession, although an academic background in public relations, journalism, English or a similar course suffices.
