Background
- Community Sponsorship is ActionAid Nigeria’s initiative that provides opportunity for Nigerians to make regular donations in support of extremely poor communities through a structured and accountable mechanism.
- Community Sponsorship which was inaugurated in 2014 is a standardized form of regular voluntary (individual) giving toward community development. The supporter marketing program was launched at the beginning of 2015 with a test of the following acquisition channels: DRTV, F2F (Face to Face) and digital fundraising campaigns.
- Community Sponsorship is aimed at creating a dynamic movement that will contribute to pushing the economic, civil and social rights of the poor and excluded, thereby uplifting people.
- This provides opportunity for individuals to partake in the development of Nigeria through an organization that is unique in its approach and methodology and has both local and global reputation for displaying the highest levels of transparency and accountability.
- The fund contributes to AAN work in the areas of Education, Health, Human security in conflicts and emergencies, Women’s right and Food and Agriculture.
- Specifically, it contributes to things such as children being able to go to school, improved healthcare for the poor, livelihood empowerment for women, youth mobilizing and Entrepreneurship service delivery from a rights perspective

The desire for the fulfilment of our vision and the quest to increase our supporter base birthed the innovative concept of MILMAP (Million Persons Movement against Poverty). MILMAP is a referral strategy which requires each member to bring in or sign up to 24 supporters that would be willing to give N24, 000 annually to join the movement.
