About The Role
As Culture Custodian’s content strategy evolves grows, we are looking for a consistent, motivated and creative Junior Editor to join our expanding editorial team operating from our Lagos office. In this role, you will be acting as a bridge between the Editor in Chief and the Editorial team while supervising day to day operations. You will play an oversight role in the formulation and development of pitches from ideation to their final iteration. You will also help in managing the workflow and schedules of the other members of the editorial team. It requires a combination of ambitious ideas and awesome people skills. The ideal candidate must be a good writer, a better editor, have a sharp nose for a story, and be open minded.

• Have relationships or be willing to build relationships with a range of key fig-
ures across the Popular Culture spectrum.
• Willing to embrace your role as a face and voice of the brand and understand- ing of the impact cultural stories can have on how we think and do things.
• Have a thorough grounding of the Nigerian media landscape.
• Thorough understanding of Nigerian Popular Culture, Politics, Books, trends, key players and able to channel this understanding into creating informative, enlightening and compelling content.
• Have a growth mindset.
• Familiar with the key social media networks (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Snapchat), social trends, data and analytics and is able to channel this towards fulfilment of job objectives.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment set against the backdrop of a very fluid and dynamic news cycle.
• Ability to take ownership, work independently, relate with and manage subordinates.
• Must have experience soliciting and editing verifiably impactful work and be able to translate that experience into work that shakes tables and ignites cultural conversations.
• Will assist in managing the editorial calendar and freelance database.
