As a Finance
Officer at Hamu Legal, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial
aspects of the firm, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the overall
success of the organization.
Responsibilities
Financial
Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and implement financial
policies and procedures to ensure the financial well-being of the firm.
- Provide strategic financial
insights to support decision-making and long-term planning.
Budgeting and
Forecasting:
- Prepare and manage the annual
budget in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor budget performance and
provide regular reports and analysis.
Financial
Reporting:
- Generate accurate and timely
financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with
regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
Cash Flow
Management:
- Monitor cash flow and manage
working capital effectively.
- Implement strategies to
optimize cash flow and reduce financial risk.
Compliance and
Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local
and international financial regulations.
- Identify and mitigate financial
risks through effective risk management practices.
Accounting and
Bookkeeping:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting
activities, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain accurate and
up-to-date financial records.
- Generate bills and ensure they
are reviewed and signed off by the Lawyers.
- Ensure lawyers are entering
their time regularly and hold them accountable to billing deadlines.
- Communicate with clients
regarding accounts receivables.
Tax Management:
- Coordinate with external tax
consultants to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
- Stay informed about changes in
tax laws and regulations affecting the firm.
Financial Audits:
- Coordinate annual financial
audits and liaise with auditors.
- Implement audit recommendations
to strengthen financial controls.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with
financial service providers, vendors, and suppliers.
- Negotiate favorable terms and
conditions for financial transactions.
Team
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with
cross-functional teams to integrate financial strategies into business
operations.
- Provide training and support to
staff on financial procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance,
Accounting, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA,
ICAN) is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Finance
Officer or similar role in a corporate setting, preferably within the
legal industry.
- Strong understanding of
financial management principles, accounting standards, and taxation.
- Excellent analytical and
problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in financial
software Google workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and
interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently
and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of Nigerian financial
regulations and compliance requirements.
