Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Legal Officer to join our consulting firm in Lekki, Lagos. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing the organization's legal processes. The role requires a deep understanding of Nigerian law, corporate governance, and risk management, with the ability to handle complex legal matters, draft contracts, and represent the company in litigation and dispute resolutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on corporate, contract, and employment laws.
- Interpret and advise on laws, regulations, and policies affecting the organization.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, partners, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and mitigate legal risks.
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
- Oversee litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Collaborate with external counsel on complex legal issues.
- Represent the organization in court or tribunal proceedings.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance principles.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and their impact on the business.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Officer or similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) from a reputable university.
- Professional certification (e.g., BL, LLM, ACLM) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian law and regulations.
- Expertise in legal research, contract drafting, negotiation, and litigation.
- Proficiency in compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.
