Job Title: Tax Accountant 
Location: Lagos

Job Summary:

As a Tax Accountant at CIG Motors Company Limited, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s compliance with tax regulations while optimizing its tax strategy. You will manage tax planning, reporting, and compliance processes, contributing to the company’s financial health and operational efficiency. This role demands a strong understanding of tax laws, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate various taxes according to tax laws and local tax requirements, including VAT and income tax.
  • Enter various tax vouchers and complete tax-related monthly calculations.
  • Coordinate with tax consulting agencies to assist in completing monthly and annual tax declarations.
  • Work with auditing agencies to follow up on tax-related aspects of audit reports.
  • Collaborate with headquarters financial colleagues to promote the establishment of standard processes for tax accounting work.
  • Provide tax opinions in various plans while coordinating with business colleagues.
  • Manage documents related to taxes.
  • Handle other daily tax-related tasks.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by superiors.



Requirements


  •  Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting or Financial Management;       
  • Ability to independently, handle all aspects of tax-related matters with at least 3 years of accounting experience;       
  • Proficient in computer use, especially in Excel functions and pivot table skills.
     

Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and filing procedures, including corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities and assess compliance risks.
  • High level of accuracy in preparing tax returns, audits, and financial records to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax planning strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex tax matters to stakeholders and liaise with tax authorities.
