 Job Title: Account Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Summary:

The Account Officer is responsible for managing the financial records and transactions of the PET
recycling company. This role involves preparing financial statements, maintaining accurate
accounts, overseeing budget management, and ensuring compliance with local financial
regulations. The Account Officer plays a vital role in supporting the company’s financial health and
sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and invoices.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
3. Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and tax obligations.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and
explanations.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
4. Cost Analysis and Management:
- Conduct cost analysis to support decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Collaborate with other departments to assess the financial impacts of projects and initiatives.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with management to provide financial insights and support strategic planning.
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial team members.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders regarding financial transactions.
6. Tax Preparation and Compliance:
- Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and assess their impact on the company.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and implement relevant changes.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the recycling or
manufacturing sector.

Skills:
- High proficiency in using accounting software such as Power Enterprise and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and tax laws.
