Commercial Gas Director
Lagos State
The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing market trends, identifying opportunities in the gas market, and negotiating commercial agreements for the supply and sales of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), propane, and related products.
This role requires strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of the energy market.
Responsibilities
Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification
•Conduct in-depth research to identify sources for the supply of LPG, LNG, propane, and other gas products.
•Monitor global and regional market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities in the gas sector.
•Analyze market conditions, pricing trends and competitor activities to provide strategic insights.
•Predict demand using advanced forecasting tools to analyze various data and market trends to estimate future demand for products or services, ensuring that supply chain and business strategies align with market needs.
Negotiations and Commercial Agreements
•Negotiate commercial terms with gas producers, suppliers, and buyers of LPG, LNG, propane, and other related products.
•Draft, review and finalize contracts and agreements to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory standards.
•Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including producers, buyers and logistics partners.
Business Development and Strategic Advisory
•Advise senior management on new opportunities for gas procurement or sales, including potential partnerships and investments.
•Develop and evaluate business cases for entering new markets or expanding existing operations.
•Support decision-making by providing detailed economic models, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments.
Operational and Financial Oversight
• Collaborate with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance of gas products.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of supply contracts and sales agreements, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Prepare financial and operational reports to track revenue, expenses, and profitability.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
• Maintain close relationships with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to promote the business and build networks.
• Act as a liaison between internal departments, ensuring seamless coordination of commercial activities.
• Provide regular updates on project status, including progress, milestones achieved, and any significant deviations from the plan.
Risk Management and Compliance
• Assess risks associated with supply and sales agreements, including geopolitical, operational, and financial risks.
• Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements, including environmental and safety standards.
• Implement strategies to mitigate risks and enhance the resilience of gas supply chains.
Qualifications
• Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen.
• Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• A Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Law or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the energy or gas industry, with a focus on LPG, LNG, or propane markets.
• Proven track record of negotiating and managing commercial agreements.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools for market analysis and reporting.
